Discuss Missed opportunity by focusing on the wrong character development Lack of mirroring in this episode, making everything feel vague Firefly did not fail because they were aired out of order Drew likes only the best vampire movies Keep the episode as a ship in the bottle, and less present Mal/Zoe could have help tighten the episode up Fix the filler episode by making it a flashback episode instead Tracy is a moron Simon: - Inadvertently smooth, then overthinks - He does like to put his foot in his mouth Kaylee: - Understands Simon's awkwardness - Is she just a flirty/smitten type character - Easily emotionally connected - Nice to see Kaylee getting to interact with others outside the crew - Kaylee having an existential issue with Death (they didn't explore it though) Mal and Zoe: - No character development, even from the flash backs Mal: - Did they forget Mal appeared religious during the war? - Searching for the faith he lost? - Dogma vs. Belief in a higher power Jayne: - Enter the awesome hat - It is a great moment for the Jayne and the crew with the lack of teasing about the hat - We actually see his motivations, and how it was expressed leading up to this - Likely shows what Mal sees in Jayne River: - Leaning more to hyperaware Inara: - Companion Grief Counseling - She is the mother of the crew, and this shows Book: - Starting to see a little more about his background by his identification of the villain of the week - There is a comic that explains his story ... Watch out for those Praying Mantis eggs in the Basement
