Insights and Considerations for Ethics (ICE)


Michael J. Marx, EdD, MBA, MCC, CMCC.  Michael is an ICF Master Certified Coach specializing in business coaching and corporate consultation. Most of his work has been done in Germany in the area of Risk Management. Dr. Marx has served as the leader of the ICF ‘Global Community of Practice on Ethics.’ He also serves on the ICF Independent Review Board. Additionally, he is a past-president of Christian Coaches Network International and the author of the book Ethics and Risk Management for Christian Coaches (2016). He serves as the Administrative Director of Success Unlimited Network. He has also founded a non-for-profit called Coaching Suicide Awareness. He lives deep in the mountains of Colorado in the USA with his wife of 35+ years and 22 sled dogs.

Jürgen Bache has been working as a certified individual psychological (Adlerian) management coach, project and strategy coach for over 25 years. The guiding thread of his work is to support people in understanding their life situation, recognizing interrelationships and interactions of the areas of life and deriving new evaluations and actions from this with the goal of achieving an inner balance.

He has been closely involved in promoting the profession of coaching for over fifteen years and actively contributes to quality development, more transparency and professionalism in coaching through various activities:

• 2009 - 2016 Board member and president of ICF-Germany.

• 2011 co-founder of the ethics committee of ICF-Germany

• 2015 Co-author on the code of ethics of the German Roundtable of Coaching Associations.

• Since 2016 member of the Independent Review Board (IRB).

• 2018 - 2020 Collaboration on the revision of the code of ethics.

• Since 2020 co-author of the EIS (now Insights and Considerations for Ethics).

• Since 2020, leading the German-language ethics-watercooler.

Jürgen especially appreciates the many professional discussions with colleagues that deepen ethical understanding and, for example, also clarify cultural commonalities and differences. For him, ethics in coaching is not black/white but colorful with millions of colors.
