episode 108: Return to Play Vs Return to Performance - Petey Performance Podcast #108

Today's solo episode of the podcast explores the topic of “Return to Play Vs Return to Performance”. In this episode, I delve into the crucial distinction between these two concepts, sharing my own perspective.

Just because an athlete is back on the field does not necessarily mean they are back to their previous level of performance

Returning to play too quickly often leads to prolonging or exacerbating the injury, so it’s crucial to follow a well-structured plan facilitating a gradual and safe return to play or return to performance process.

As practitioners, it can be difficult to accurately measure an injury, so it’s important not to generalise our approach by recognising that there is no one-size-fits all solution to a problem. Each case requires an individualised approach, tailored to specific needs and circumstances.

Tune in as I share my effective process for assisting my athletes in their recovery from injury, guiding them to reach a better level of performance than when they suffered injury.
