This week, hear about my journey to becoming a fundraiser, and how I found a career after closing my retail store. Without any guidance or input from anyone, it was a struggle to find a pathway that made sense. Having worked in retail for 11 years, I decided to dedicate the next 10 years to giving back to the community, the greater good. Little did I know, it would encompass the next 30 years of my life, and I would raise over $35 million for the agencies I worked for - plus the volunteer opportunities I found in my free time. Free time? Ha! You'll also hear more about the aftermath from the store. I had to file bankruptcy - not something I'm proud of, but I had little choice. And I was lost to a certain degree. Searching for meaning, and understanding of my life. I found it in the most unexpected way.
