O'Dell continues our unsolved serial killers series with a two-part look at what a group of retired homicide detectives refer to as The Smiley Face Killers.
Since as far back as 1997, several college-aged men have gone out drinking with friends, and then disappeared only to be found months later - dead in a body of water. Many of the deaths have been ruled a suicide, but weird circumstances around the deaths as well as inconcistencies in autopsy reports have led some to theorize that it's a group of underground killers hunting these men. In many cases, a smiley face has been founded spray painted near where they believe the body was dumped.
There are a lot of arguments for and against this theory. We'll look at several cases and discuss what we think is going on.
