Psalm 96: A Song of Praise. Starts, "Sing a new song unto the Lord," or "When the house was being built after the Captivity" in the Septuagint. Psalm 96 is a hymn and one of the royal psalms praising God as the King of His people. In Baptist ministry, Psalm 96 is a missionary hymn, and in Judaism, it is recited to increase joy among family members. So it's either a cudgel or a magic spell. YOU DECIDE.

Psalm 97: The LORD's Dominion and Power. Starts, "The Lord is King." This is a hymn psalm, and the Jerusalem Bible calls it an "eschatological hymn" about the End Times, as it foreshadows the messianic era when God will reign supreme over the earth.

Psalm 98: Praise for God's Righteousness. Starts, "O sing unto the Lord a new song." This is a hymn psalm, and one of the Royal Psalms, praising God as the King of His people. Psalm 98 inspired many hymns such as the classic Christmas song "Joy to the World." Andrew Lloyd Webber recently set the psalm as an anthem for the coronation of Charles III in 2023. Check it: Choir croons classic Christmas carol to creepy crowd as Cheugy Chuck cheers.

Psalm 99: The LORD's Faithfulness to Israel / A psalm of David. Starts, "The LORD reigneth." This is the last of the set of additional Royal Psalms praising God as the King of His people, as well as the last of the enthronement psalms. This psalm reveals that earth is merely an ottoman onto which God rests his big ol' stinky feets. No wonder our planet is in such dire straits!
