[התוועדות זו התקיימה בעיצומה של מלחמת יום-הכיפורים] א. במשך הקיץ האחרון דובר ע"ד מ"ש במאמר [ד"ה וקבל היהודים] דשנת תרפ"ז בענין "מפי עוללים ויונקים יסדת עוז להשבית אויב ומתנקם", והי' זה בבחינת "ניבא ולא ידע מה ניבא", ועכשיו מתברר שאכן צריכים את ה"להשבית אויב ומתנקם", שזה יכול להתקיים עי"ז שהאויב נעשה מסייע וכו'. ענין הבירורים נפעל במיוחד ע"י ענין הצדקה, ובאופן של "פיזור" – כמ"ש ב"סידור" שבערב סוכות מפזרין צדקה לעניים וכו'; הביאור הפשוט לזה שהענין התעורר מחדש הוא מפני שהיו כאלו שמצד "יצרם אנסם" ביקשו להחזיר את שטחי א"י שה' העניק לבנ"י באופן נסי וכו'. ולכן, כאשר עשיריות מישראל מתאספים יחד בד' אמות של נשיא הדור ויכריזו בקול רם שאנשים אלו לא דיברו בשם אף א' מישראל (ובאמת – גם לא בשם-עצמם) כי "ברצונו נטלה מהם ונתנה לנו" – הנה "כן יקום" ויתבטלו ה"שיריים" מטענתם וכו'. וכאשר הקהל יענה "אמן" ה"ז יפעל בהם ובעולם לעד לעולמי עולמים! [הקהל ענה בקול רם: אמן!] ב. לנצל את השעות עד כניסת החג להוספה בלימוד התורה ובנתינת הצדקה, וכמ"ש "ציון במשפט תפדה ושבי' בצדקה", ושנזכה שיהי' "ופרוס עלי' סוכת שלומך", "ונתתי שלום בארץ ושכבתם ואין מחריד", ולהמשיך שמחה גדולה ורבה בכל השנה כולה.

[This farbrengen took place at the height of the Yom Kippur War.] (1) During the summer we discussed what it says in the maamar [V’kibel Hayehudim] of 5627 on the verse, “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings You have established strength…in order to put an end to enemy and avenger.” This was like “prophesying without knowing what he was prophesying” – it has now become clear that indeed a situation has arisen where it is necessary to “put an end to enemy and avenger,” which is possible in a manner where the enemy becomes a helper to the Jewish people etc. The service of birurim is achieved through tzedakah in particular, and when it is dispensed freely – as it says in Siddur im Dach, to freely dispense tzedakah to the poor on Erev Sukkos. The simple reason we’ve brought the issue to the fore lately is because there are those who, because “their inclination forced them” want to give back territory in Eretz Yisrael that Hashem miraculously gave the Jewish people etc. Therefore, when a crowd of multiple minyanim of Jews gather, and within the four cubits of the leader of the generation, and loudly declare that those people do not speak in the name of a single Jew (nor, in fact, do they speak in their own name), because “When He wished, He gave it to them,” and then, “when He wished, He took it away from them and gave it to us” – this will cause it to indeed be that way, and those arguments will be nullified etc. And when the crowd says “Amen,” that has an effect on them and on the world forever and ever. [The crowd loudly responds “Amen!”.] (2) We should utilize the hours remaining until Sukkos to increase in Torah and tzedakah, as it says, “Tzion shall be redeemed through justice and her penitent through tzedakah;” may we merit that Hashem will “spread over us the shelter (sukkah) of Your peace,” and “And I will grant peace in the Land, and you will lie down with no one to frighten [you],” and to continue the great joy throughout the entire year.
