COMPOSITES LOUNGE - Das Online Experten Netzwerk

#Composites360OnTour made a stop at UK's composites show "ICS" and met with Tim Hall of Engenuity Ltd out of West Sussex, UK

Listen to this podcast episode to learn more about SMC part simulation, how the show is going and what you can expect from Burgess Hill, where Engenuity (an HRC group member) operates from.

In the upcoming episodes you will watch Miles Price demonstrating state-of-the-art temperature controlled composites testing and collision simulating devices.

Besides Engenuity I had the chance to deep dive into a luxury sports car from the US.
Techtainment guaranteed!

Do you know about tension compression shear, energy absorption fraction or energy release dynamic impact testing?

If yes, have a look at Engenuity Ltd advanced laboratory testing equipment.

If not, then this video is particularly for you, if you are busy with

1. composites
2. sandwich
3. adhesives
4. fastener methods
5. bonding and jointing techniques

Miles Price, the laboratory manager of Engenuity (an HRC group member) welcomed me recently on my #Composites360OnTour in West Sussex (UK) on the hottest day of this year and we went through their static, dynamic, hot ???? (+350 Degree C) and cold ❄️ (-70c) temperature testing capabilities.

In this episode you will learn fixtures:

⚙️ ASTM D7078V: shear fixture
⚙️ ASTM D6671 Mixed Bond bending fixture
⚙️ ASTM D6641 Combined loading compression fixture
&
⚙️ ISO 19927 interlaminar shear fixture

I will lend my call to action from Miles, who left it to your imagination.

So let's make a challenge out of this: what are in the wooden boxes ???? ?

Guess on LinkedIn. The first right guess will be gifted with a price from Miles PRICE ;)

Did you know that saw cuts on the sample serve as damage initiation?

With their proprietary droptower test they can not only adjust the height from zero to 1meter, but also accelarate the mass downwards assisted by springs to achieve 2m/sec-

The amount of energy is tested to enable energy absorption analysis.

As you can see during my #composites360OnTour I reveal the possibilities in FRPs. In the past crash simulation had been a counter argument on composites. Owing to Engenuity and other market player this is history.

There is a huge data pool available to feed simulation software these days.

We thank Tim Hall and his team for these extraordinary insights on lightweighting. If you are at CAMX - The Composites and Advanced Materials Expo pay them a visit in Atlanta and get the latest on simulation.

Since HRC is a group of companies rooted in composites, we agreed with Erich Fries to continue next with ACTC (Advanced Composites Technology Centre).

Follow and join our Composites Lounge group and site on LinkedIn to stay up-to-date on lightweight technologies, innovation and sustainability by means of composites.

My tour brings me next to AVK's HQ in Frankfurt, where I will be joining a working group on EV batteries and of course JEC Group's JEC FORUM DACH on 24-25 October 2023 in lovely Salzburg!
