He shares his technique of creating speech modules in three, five, or seven-minute segments, and provides insights into brainstorming ideas to make stories funny, using his hilarious Boy Scout popcorn story as an example.
But it's not just about humor. Victor emphasizes that your ego is not your friend in life. He sheds light on his approach to speaking, which is other-centric and empathetic, always paying close attention to the audience's reception. Victor's ultimate goal when hired to speak is to make the person who hired him look good, not to focus solely on his own success.
What sets Victor apart is his understanding that it's not just about sharing personal stories and struggles when delivering a speech. He believes in providing direct value to the audience by sharing a story, making a point, and showing how it applies to their lives. Victor reminds us that our presentations should deliver something practical that the audience can benefit from and use. Notably, Victor shares his inspiring experience of being asked to be a keynote speaker at an event by the National Speakers Association, even though he is not a member. This further solidifies his belief that if you create great content and are good at what you do, people will find you.
