The Southwest Symphony Orchestra has been popular with our listeners for many years. The 2016/2017 Season of the Southwest Symphony Orchestra starts on October 27th. Their annual Halloween Spooktacular Concert, titled Opus Pocus is a musical treasure for all ages. This completely delightful concert offers popular sounds of the season, including modern classics. You are welcome to come in costume and children are admitted free when in costume. Again, the date for this concert is October 27th and is held at the Cox Performing Arts Center at Dixie State University in St. George, Utah. Concert time is 7:30 PM. We hope to see you there. Their 2nd concert of the season is on November 18th and is called Distant Replay: Pages of the Ages. This evening’s concert is filled with a variety of truly fabulous favorites of yesterday and today. December 4th and 5th is the annual Messiah concert with the Messiah Chorale. This long standing Southern Utah tradition is a great way to start off the Christmas season. This concert is FREE for the public. March 3, 2017 is the annual Youth Concerto Classic. This has always been a season favorite as it features young prodigies from all over southern Utah. April 14th the Southwest Symphony will host a stirring composition by Rob Gardner called “Lamb of God: An Easter Oratorio.” This oratorio tells of the events surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In their final concert of the season on May 19th, the Southwest Symphony performs in the “Resplendent Sound of Captivating Pops with Kurt Bestor.” This evening’s concert promises to offer vibrant and mesmerizing sounds of classical and modern favorites.
