New Jersey lawmakers approved an increase to the gasoline tax by 23 cents per gallon. The tax per gallon will be 37.5 cents a gallon — up from the previous 14.5 cents. Both houses of the state legislature voted for gas tax hike, marking New Jersey's first gas price increase in three decades, but earlier last week it looked like it wasn't going to happen.
