For many readers, particularly Christian readers, Amish fiction is a huge hit, and has become synonmous (erroneous in my opinion, but that's neither here nor there) as the vanguard of Christian fiction. Amish romances flood Christian fiction topseller lists. In some of the big market bookstores, when you go to the tiny, two-by-two religious fiction section, you'll see non-fictional devotional books and then a slew Amish romance books. What exactly is it to be Amish? Are the portrayals of Amish life and society in the fictional books, real?
