episode 146: E146 - Podcast Seasons - Are They The Best Option For My Podcast

EPISODE 146 - Podcast Seasons - Are They The Best Option For My Podcast

Should I podcast in seasons? Personally, at this point, I don't. Two of my 7 podcasts actually have 3 to 4 episodes a week going out every week - that is a bit extreme, I know, I know!

Just because I don't use seasons does by no means equate to seasons as a "bad idea", seasons might be a great idea for you - and right there sums up why podcasting is great. THERE IS NO RIGHT WAY TO PODCAST! You are in charge of your podcast! Do what works right for you!

I share my thoughts and a couple cautions around podcasting in seasons here on episode 137! I would love to hear your comments over at our website!

In this episode we touch on the following...

What's a Season in Podcasting?

A podcast season is like a bunch of episodes released together, and then there's a break before the next batch. It's similar to how TV shows have a bunch of episodes, and then you have to wait for the next season to come out. This way, listeners have time to enjoy the episodes without the pressure of a new one every week.

How Seasons Work

In a podcast season, there's a specific time when episodes come out, usually lasting a couple of months. During this time, no new episodes are released. After the season ends, a new one begins. However, not all episodes have to be part of a season. Some can be released randomly whenever the podcaster wants.

When Do Episodes Come Out?

The timing of episodes depends on when they're ready. Podcasters release episodes when they are finished and edited. Seasons help listeners know when to expect new episodes. Without seasons, it's less predictable, and podcasters have to stick to a strict schedule.

Why Use Seasons?

Using seasons in podcasting has some benefits. Listeners know when to expect new episodes, which keeps them interested and excited. It also gives podcasters time to focus on making new episodes without rushing.

How Long Should a Season Be?

Most podcast seasons are around two to three months long, but it varies. Some shows release episodes regularly, while others do it every few months. It depends on what works best for your podcast.

Planning Your Podcast

Before starting your podcast, decide if you want to use seasons and how many you'll have. This helps you set a schedule and keep your podcast organized.

In Conclusion

Podcasting in seasons is a great way to keep your podcast interesting for listeners. It shows that you're active and always creating new content. If you want to keep your podcast exciting, using seasons might be a good idea.
