Fight CRC interviews Jana Bolduan Lomax, PsyD, Director of Cancer Support Services at Saint Joseph Hospital in Colorado. Colorectal cancer patients and survivors often hear comments like: “stay positive,” “well, you look good,” and “don’t worry, everything will be fine.” While well intentioned, these comments may cause uncertainty about how to share one’s true feelings. Many individuals struggle to watch their loved ones go through a cancer diagnosis and treatment, and for all those touched by cancer, opening honest conversations about feelings and emotions is a key element to maintaining positive psychosocial health.
