episode 12: Real Life Real Crime Original | Louisiana's Worst Serial Killer

In this episode of Real Life Real Crime, Woody Overton, delves into the chilling details of a serial killer case in Louisiana. The episode centers around a specific murder that occurred in 1984.

A single mother named Deborah Ford and her two daughters lived in a not-so-nice neighborhood, and Ford's house had been burglarized multiple times before. Despite her attempts to secure the house, an intruder managed to pry open the bathroom window and gain entry. Woody provides a chilling account of the attack, detailing how Ford was attacked, tied up, and brutally stabbed multiple times.

The episode highlights the signature elements of the killer's modus operandi, such as the use of an electrical cord to bind the victims. The police arrive the next morning and realize that this is the work of a serial killer, evident from the distinct signature elements and palm prints found on the bathroom window.

Woody then explores another murder committed by the same serial killer. Vivian Chaney, her boyfriend Billy Joe Harris, and her brother Jerry Colbert, along with Vivian's daughters, who fell victim to the killer. Woody Overton describes the gruesome details of each murder, including multiple gunshot wounds, throat slashing, and the binding of the victims. The terror in the Chaney home caused immense devastation, leaving the killer still at large. The investigation into one of the crime scenes reveals key evidence, such as duct tape matching the one used on another victim and palm prints found near a victim's body.

Woody also introduces a witness, Oscar Washington, who encountered someone covered in blood carrying a bag of weapons. The possible suspect was seen looking into the Chaney house before the bodies were discovered. Woody Overton emphasizes that this is Louisiana's worst serial killer.
