  • Half of US podcast listeners say they would like to watch a TV show based on their favourite podcast; and have discovered new TV shows by listening to podcasts. The data is part of research by Hub Entertainment Research, which suggests that TV networks should take podcasts seriously as a marketing and audience-growth medium.
  • IZotope has released VEA, a plugin for your audio editor that acts as a voice enhancement assistant. The tool includes dynamic compression, noise reduction and a EQ tool.

    • The tool works with Hindenburg PRO, and we’ve used it on tomorrow’s Podnews Weekly Review to help clean up an interview, making some laptop-recorded audio sound clearer and better. Just like Hindenburg PRO, it’s simple to use and offers some helpful presets. The tool offers a ten-day free trial.
  • In August, Podnews covered a report that podcasts from Black creators were being unfairly marked as not brand-safe. Today, news of a partnership between brand suitability and safety company Barometer and the ALIVE Podcast Network which has analysed its content using Barometer’s contextual analysis engine to discover high brand suitability standards, enabling better monetisation.

  • The British and Americans are not the same. True Crime is significantly less popular in the UK than the US, according to Edison Podcast Metrics. Comedy is also rather more popular in Britain, says the data.
  • Audio monetisation company Sonnant has opened new offices in Dallas TX, USA, as the company renews its agreement with Salem Media. Sonnant’s head office is in Melbourne VIC, Australia.
  • Research from Emory University, NYU, and Carnegie Mellon University suggests that you should rotate your advertising creative: finding that some people get annoyed with online ad banners after seeing the same ad as little as three times. We’d love to see similar research for audio ads.
  • RØDE has announced a new dual-transmitter version of the Wireless Me, the company’s wearable microphone system.
