  • New book Podcasting in a Platform Age, written by John L Sullivan, is published today. What happens when money pours into a medium which has historically been more grass-roots? The book details the efforts of industry players to transform podcasting into a profitable medium, which are beginning to challenge the very definition of podcasting itself.
  • Acast podcast ads in Ireland have delivered €7 million to podcasters since the end of 2019, says the company.
  • Mia Lobel, formerly at Pushkin Industries, is now running a podcast consultancy, she writes.
  • Willie D “won’t ever sell his podcast despite multi-million dollar offers almost weekly”, says Hip Hop DX. He’s the host of Willie D Live: the show is predominantly on YouTube, where most of his shows get fewer than ten thousand views.

  • Song Exploder is celebrating its tenth anniversary. PRX says that the show will have a number of live appearances, including at Evolutions by Podcast Movement in March and with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in April. We can also expect a new version of the first ever show.
  • For The Love Of Rugby is new from Crowd Sports, fronted by England's most-capped mens player, Ben Youngs, and current England international Dan Cole. Ben and Dan love rugby. They have spent 20 years together at Leicester Tigers, won a Grand Slam with England and toured with the British & Irish Lions, and in their new show they want you to love rugby too.
  • The Olympics this year will mean a lot of new shows, like Tom Dean Medal Machine, new from Global today and following the career of Tom Dean, who is attempting a record-breaking five-medal haul. The podcast's mission is to follow Tom's attempts to create "the Medal Machine", and talks to all manner of people who will try to help him.
  • Mind The Business: Small Business Success Stories is back for a new season - it's from Intuit QuickBooks and iHeartMedia. Season two will focus on the trials and tribulations of owning a small business by speaking with those who know best - the everyday solopreneurs who live it - in eight thematic episodes that spotlight the nuances on how to navigate small business ownership.
