  • The nominees have been announced for the iHeart Podcast Awards 2024. The awards, presented by The Hartford, will be announced on March 11 at SXSW (as well as being broadcast on the radio and streamed live on YouTube).

  • AI-powered podcast search tool Dexa has raised $6mn in seed funding, and announced a partnership with Huberman Lab. You can give it a go here.
  • CoHost has added episode consumption data to the company’s podcast analytics and audience insights platform. The tool aggregates data from both Spotify and Apple, to offer users deeper insights.

  • First look: Paramount Audio, the audio and podcasting arm of Paramount Global, has announced a partnership with brand partnerships and integration company Backyard Ventures, who will be tasked with growing key titles such as The Late Show Pod Show with Stephen Colbert, On Fire: The Official Survivor Podcast, Avatar: Braving the Elements, and The Official Yellowstone Podcast. Matt Cisneros, founder of Backyard Ventures, told Podnews: “The Paramount Audio team is a dream to work with and we see a huge opportunity to work in tandem with them to grow their already successful podcast business.”
  • The Actively Established Podcast Report has been published for February by PodMatch and Rephonic. It shows a general slowdown in the number of active podcasts, but with a continued rise in general podcast listenership, it suggests that now is a good time to start.
  • Harry Duran’s Vertical Farming Podcast has merged with IGROW NEWS to form a new company, the AgTech Media Group.
  • Paula Szuchman, Director of Audio at The New York Times, has been confirmed as a speaker at Radiodays Europe this year. “Speaking about the content and usability of the New York Times audio app, Szuchman will be revealing their successes and failures as well as the strategy behind their hugely impressive podcast slate including Serial and The Daily.“ The conference is in Munich, Germany, on Mar 17-19; our Editor is also speaking at the Podcast Summit and highlighting new AI tools.
