QUESTION: CAN WE TALK MORE IN-DEPTH ABOUT SIN STRUGGLES IN THE CHURCH, IE: LUST, SEXUAL SIN, AND ADDICTIONS, ETC...

 

1. WHY DO WE DEAL WITH IT?

 

Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires… Romans 1:21,25-26 NLT

 

Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18 NLT

 

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NLT

 

YOU WERE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE

 

YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN. YOU BELONG TO GOD.

 

HIS SPIRIT WAS PUT IN YOU

 

HONOR GOD WITH YOUR BODY

 

IT MEANS YOU ARE FREE FROM GODS WRATH

 

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. Romans 3:23-25 ESV

 

And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. Romans 5:9 NLT

 

IT MEANS YOU ARE FREE FROM SATAN

 

You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross. Colossians 2:13-15 NLT

 

IT MEANS YOU ARE FREE FROM SIN

 

For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 1 Peter 1:18-19 NLT

 

IT MEANS YOU ARE FREE FROM OURSELVES AND OTHERS

 

He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. 2 Corinthians 5:15 NLT

 

God paid a high price for you, so don’t be enslaved by the world. 1 Corinthians 7:23 NLT

 

2. HOW DO WE CONQUER IT?

 

But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:27 ESV

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9 NLT
