The Islands of OZ - raw, moody, beautiful, dramatic and totally unique to Australia. Summersite is embarking on a lifestyle film and photo odyssey exploring our rare and magnificent Islands of OZ. Brinkley Davies explores the Great Barrier Reef in the Whitsundays Islands, Queensland featuring Billabong Womens Australia. "Flying into and over the Whitsundays is totally surreal. You can see almost all of the 74 islands that make up the Whitsunday archipelago, the water is so clear and you can see all these little hidden gems of beaches. Water baby and marine biologist Brinkley Davies joined us for our Summersite Whitsunday Odyssey to dive the Barrier Reef and explore these "hidden gems” throughout the Whitsundays. Over a few days we dived the Barrier Reef, took a seaplane out to Heart Reef and Whitehaven Beach and then jumped on our own catamaran to sail through and explore the islands. Brinkley loved it and it was so great to hear her knowledge on what marine habitat we were seeing at the Barrier Reef and in the water around the Islands. We scuba dived the wall along Hardy Reef and saw lots of marine life including a Green Sea Turtle, Hump head Wrasse, Angel fish, Giant Trevally, and a couple of sneak Nudibranchs. We also visited the reef pontoon where we free-dived and found a giant clam and some beautiful anemones - this was my favourite part of the reef that day." "The Sea Plane to Whitehaven Beach and Heart Reef might have been the coolest thing I have ever done . . . Seeing the Great Barrier Reef from this perspective is something that I wish everyone had the opportunity to do.
