Tales From The Drop Box - Better Than Radio

As the name suggests each cast explores new interesting and sometimes some great old tunes not likely to be played on the freakin radio. A mix of indie, pop, alternative, punk, and experimental with no commercial breaks and only a little yapping. Cool?

Just For Fun Concerts EP 2017-02 (Episode 56)

Well, we are starting to pick up some speed now with a new episode of Tales From The Dropbox. With the inauguration of the FPOS this week (“Festering Pile of Shit”), the future for the good ole U.S.A. looks a little bleak, but at least the soundtrack will be awesome! History teaches us that the election of a Republican president produces some excellent music! Tales From The Drop Box Episode 56 should brighten your week as it collects some gems from last year and offers some new selections from about to be released new LPs. So crank ‘er up and get the blood flowing.

Speaking of history, it is truly a good thing that there is no such thing as global warming. I know this to be true because the FPOS Trump informed me during the election campaign that scientists are all wrong and they don’t know what they are talking about. Whew… I’m glad he’s correct and not the scientists who obviously are reporting this disturbing fake news today:

Two leading U.S. science agencies Wednesday jointly declared 2016 the hottest year on record, surpassing the previous record set just last year — which, itself, had topped a record set in 2014.

Average surface temperatures in 2016, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, were 0.07 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than 2015, and featured eight successive months (January through August) that were individually the warmest since the agency’s record began in 1880.

The average temperature across the world’s land and ocean surfaces was 58.69 Fahrenheit, or 1.69 degrees above the 20th century average of 57 degrees, NOAA declared. The agency also noted that the record for the global temperature has now successively been broken five times since the year 2000. The years 2005 and 2010 were also record warm years, according to the agency’s dataset.

NASA concurred with NOAA, also declaring 2016 the warmest year on record in its own dataset that tracks the temperatures at the surface of the planet’s land and oceans, and expressing “greater than 95 percent certainty” in that conclusion.  (In contrast, NOAA gave a 62 percent confidence in the broken record.)

NASA actually found a bigger leap upward of temperatures in 2016, measuring the year as .22 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the prior record year of 2015. The agency also noted that just since the year 2001 the planet has seen “16 of the 17 warmest years on record.”

See U.S. scientists officially declare 2016 the hottest year on record. That makes three in a row.

I am positive that we will receive a tweet from FPOS Trump declaring NASA and NOAA as liars publishing fake news about global warming which is merely a democratic “myth” perpetuated by the leftist media. Oh wait we did! Just two days ago this  wisdom was tweeted by the FPOS: Ice storm rolls from Texas to Tennessee – I’m in Los Angeles and it’s freezing. Global warming is a total, and very expensive, hoax!

To be clear, I am not blaming the FPOS for global warming. I’m merely observing that the FPOS  is a complete freakin’ moron. As our president, FPOS should be somewhat concerned about our country’s contributions to the change and he is in charge of the two agencies which just reported this information. Further, his proposed nominee for the head of the EPA, Scott Pruit, has similar views and has articulated that he too is a nonbeliever in global warming.

Regardless of the idiots who are going to be in charge of these agencies (and other scientific agencies) and I portend they will do nothing to take action that is absolutely necessary to reduce greenhouse gases and carbon emissions, for the rest of the rational world it is pretty difficult to ignore data supporting a change is taking place in our global climate. Whether this is a long term change (centuries) or merely a short term correction in global climate, it is irresponsible to ignore the fact that the global climate is trending in a particular direction and it is caused by humans. We (all living things, humans, animals, plant life etc. (I’m defining living things for supporters of the FPOS who may not actually know what living things are)) depend on the Earth’s maintaining a homeostatic condition i.e. we can tolerate an increase or decrease in global temperatures but only by a couple of degrees without the occurrence of some very severe localized weather related events and at some point a major global climatic event (Think of the Arctic ice melt and the consequences of that in the short and long term). The causes of global climate change are fairly well documented (See Causes of Climate Change).

So, as the FPOS ignores a rapidly growing global problem that could cause food shortages and famine, flooding, and trigger weird weather events that could devastate communities such as ice storms, as he decamps to Trump Tower, it perhaps should cause all of us some great concern as he picks fight with intelligence agencies, scientists, other world leaders, and ignores the very real data being presented to him. This ignorance of the data threatens  our existence. Delay is death.

While I can’t predict what is going to happen over the next four years, someone should get a hold of the FPOS and wake him the F#^!!! up to a very serious issue that needs some policy – now.
