Alexis Marie Chute: Expecting Sunshine - True North Story® Original Podcast Series
Alexis Marie Chute is a professional writer, artist and photographer. In her fields she has garnered an international reputation and has received over 30 awards for her visual and literary work. Alexis Marie was named a “Top 40 Under 40” by Avenue Magazine, an “Emerging Canadian Photographer” by Photo Life Magazine, and was the 2012/2013 Artist in Residence at Harcourt House Gallery and Artist Run Centre.
Alexis Marie received her Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Alberta in 2007 and studied at Media Design School in Auckland New Zealand where she lived and worked for two years. She graduated with her Master of Fine Art in Creative Writing from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2015.
Her writing has been published in Today’s Parent, the Times Colonist, the Winnipeg Free Press, Destinations magazine, Flurt Magazine and the Edmonton Journal. She writes an ongoing column for Edmonton Woman Magazine and guest posts on many blogs. Her essays are featured in the Three Minus One anthology in association with the film Return to Zero and S.H.E. Sharing Her Experiences anthology by the Women’s Art Museum Society of Canada.
Alexis Marie has penned a memoir and documentary with the same title, Expecting Sunshine, dealing with pregnancy following the death of her second child.
In her spare time (what’s spare time?), Alexis Marie is involved in her local literary and art community, and makes documentary films. She is passionate about her children and husband, and loves traveling to new places, running, chocolate and stimulating conversations with a glass of good wine in hand. Alexis Marie is also a proud participant of the 3 Day Novel Contest and National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).
Alexis Marie is a freelance writer with knowledge and experience writing profiles and about place and travel, parenting, bereavement, visual and literary arts, and community. She welcomes any challenge, takes on large projects and small, and is an outside-the-box thinker.
