Today a new film called Denial opens in cinemas. The denial it refers to is the denial of the Holocaust . The film tells the true story of a landmark legal case which established that David Irving who has spent his life challenging survivors accounts of the gas chambers was not, as he said, a historian but a falsifier of history motivated by anti-Semitism. Today’s Sanchia Berg reports with details about the film and with a look back at an interview she had with David Irving before the trial’s verdict. Richard Rampton QC was the lawyer for the defendant Deborah Lipstadt and says it’s dangerous that we can no longer easily distinguish “mad opinion” from “real truths”. (Auschwitz. Credit: AFP/ Getty)
