Is air pollution an environmental emergency?


How serious is air pollution? And can we do anything to stop it? In February last year a study was published which suggested outdoor air pollution is contributing to about 40,000 early deaths a year in the UK. In the first of three reports, Camilla Cavendish, journalist and former policy adviser to David Cameron, investigates whether anything has changed since then.
