EcoReco Model R Scooter brings turn signals, lighting, navigation and more

Wow, have they improved the EcoReco! The new version of the electric scooter is bad ass!

If you’ve been following me for a while, I’m sure you remember the EcoReco. An electric scooter that we tested. And I fell flat on my face driving at CES. Totally my fault! Nothing to do with the scooter itself. I totally got carried away and tried to do some tricks!

ANYWAY… they have a new version of the EcoReco and it’s come a LONG way!

This electric scooter is in between a skateboard and a bicycle. But it’s more portable than a bike.

As the name suggests, it’s eco-friendly. It goes 20 miles per hour for up to 40 miles.

It now has a headlight, a taillight, an under carriage light AND turn signals for safety!

It weighs 26 pounds and holds 280 pounds.

You can use it in two modes. Throttle - which is what I used on previous versions. It now has cruise control, and a boost mode for going uphill. They have an app that lets you configure stuff like top speed and uphill acceleration.

Or Kick Assist mode that lets you get a little more exercise and get more range. You manually kick and the smart sensors calculate the power of your kick to push you faster and further with the electric power boost.

Lightvigation tells you when you should be turning so you can keep looking at the road instead of dissecting the map on your phone. And as you get closer to your turn, the flashing of the lights speed up.

It has collision avoidance for connected cars to detect you’re there so you don’t take them by surprise. And if you do fall or there’s impact, after several seconds of inactivity, it’ll automatically text your emergency contact with your location.

Speaking of location - it’s using Tile to keep track of your scooter. If you walk away or if it gets stolen, Tile will show you where it is.

But it shouldn’t get stolen, since you can easily lock it up!

Their Indiegogo campaign just ended, but you’re definitely going to want to keep an eye on this one! Now, it’s not for everyone. But if you live pretty close to work, or you want to go exploring the town, and you want a more economical way to get around… this is a pretty damn cool way to do it!
