On Tuesday, Wikileaks disclosed an alleged CIA surveillance program that has the capabilities to target security weaknesses in everyday electronics like smartphones, smart TVs and personal computers, and could even circumvent encryption on apps such as WhatsApp.
Jenna McLaughlin, who covers surveillance and national security for The Intercept, discusses WikiLeaks' newly-released documents which do not, for now, detail specific hacks used, and looks at some of the motivations about the timing of the leak.
