M26: Rework

There aren’t a whole lot of vocal groups in the techno sphere, and German outfit Rework’s heady mix of sleazy female vocals, techy rhythm and acid + electro textures ensure that they are no novelty. Comprised of German duo Daniel Varga and Michael Kübler, they have rotated through various singers since they formed in 2000 – as you can hear on this mix – with Sascha Hedgehog a mainstay on the mic now since 2005. Across three albums and numerous singles on the legendary Playhouse, Visionquest, Seth Troxler’s Soft Touch, Magda’s Items & Things and others, they have formed a consistently engrossing body of work that marries their synth pop influences with the gritty sounds of darker club music.

*How would you describe your sound?*

Dark electro tech house with new wave Eurogirl vocals.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*

We are inspired by all the music we love. To name some of the bands we like: New Order, Factory Floor, Rainbow Arabia, Soft Cell, Glass Candy, Cosmetics and many more. Also the photograph of another person can be a major inspiration for a new track.

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*

We like the idea to make a mix only with our own material so we really enjoyed to select some of our tracks we produced over the last years and also some unreleased material. It’s the first time that we did that kind of mix even if it’s harder than to do a mix out of your music collection ‘cause we know our own tracks too good and listened to them too many times.
