America The Beautiful by Ray Charles

Label: Crossover 985
Year: 1976
Condition: M
Price: $15.00

From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original Crossover Records factory sleeve. This is my absolute favorite rendition of the song many think should be our National Anthem. Dave Marsh honors it by including it in his list of the 1,001 greatest singles of Rock'n'Soul. A very similar version (if not the very same, as it sounds) was released in 1972 on the B side of ABC/TRC 11325. Note: This beautiful copy has Mint labels and untouched-looking vinyl. The vinyl has very light native surface noise that's audible beneath the gorgeous music in the soft passages. Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" to hear what I mean. After the soft intro, you don't hear the surface noise at all, so most of the track has pristine sound.
