Carolina Girls by General Johnson & The Chairmen

Label: Surfside 902
Year: 1980
Condition: M
Price: $14.00

From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy. Both sides of this great single reprise a glorious 1960s-era soul sound, celebrated along the North Atlantic coast (particularly the Carolinas) as "beach music." For newcomers, General Johnson's long and illustrious career included stints as singer/writer for the Showmen ("It Will Stand") and Charimen of the Board ("Give Me Just A Little More Time"). I think so highly of these two tracks that they both get 5 stars in my iTunes library... translated to a 2-star recommendation here (our highest). By the way, this is a rare pressing that shows the title as singular ("Carolina Girl")... all previous pressings I've seen use the plural title, but I don't know which came first, or if this was just a typo in one pressing. Note: This beautiful copy has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
