France and Germany 'should be the engine of Europe'


In their first meeting, France’s new president, Emmanuel Macron, and Germany’s Chancellor, Angela Merkel agreed to focus on “deepening and crisis-proofing the EU”. The duo have been nicknamed Merkron in the German media and their relationship is central to the future of the European Union and to the Brexit talks.
