Denmark is hot property for lovers of deep and dusty house music - with newcomer Thorsteinssøn hot on the heels of previous Monologues guest Uffe and Copenhagen’s Tartelet Records. His mellow, organic vibe grabbed our attention through EPs on Legendary Sound Research on Horse On Horse, and as his mix for us shows, he’s sitting on plenty of golden grooves. From disco and soul sampling cuts to melodic, atmospheric deep house to wiggly acid jams, his aesthetic makes for a moreish listen. A name to watch in 2015.

How do you describe your sound?

Messy, and plenty of melody.

Who and what inspires you and influences your sound?

Living at night helps me and making music in different ways or for different projects and reasons keeps it fun. Also figuring out new possibilities with synths, computers and instruments inspires me. The list of people/artists that has had an influence is a bit long.

Can you tell us a little about this mix and the idea behind it?

This mix is a blend of already released and forthcoming 12″s and some very new tracks that no-one has heard yet. I have not had much time to reflected on any particular idea and went for it with a selection that first came to mind and I felt could work well together. It was great fun and thank you to Monologues for inviting me.
