There was a time in America when a couple of guys with guitars could form a band without having to worry about finding a front man to be vocalist. What a concept! Just rock out instrumentally! These two guys — Filipino by ancestry — did just that back in 1959 and left us some beautiful, haunting recordings of Santo on steel guitar and and Johnny playing rhythm. Their work owed quite a bit to jazz as well as rock, as evidenced here in their amazing cover of Duke Ellington's 1937 hit, with a cover of George Gershwin's classic "Summertime" on the flip.
