Brexit: A bespoke ECJ for the UK?

Britain's most senior judge has told the government it must provide more clarity on how UK law will be developed after Brexit. Lord Neuberger is the president of the Supreme Court and tells Today: "Parliament should be very clear in telling the judges what to do... but to blame the judges for making the law when Parliament fails to do so would be unfair." Dominic Grieve is a Conservative MP and former Attorney General. He tells Justin Webb that "the thing is our relationship with the EU, even when we've left it, is infinitely complex because of the level of trade and exchange." Prominent Leave campaigner Owen Paterson MP has said the UK could set up a body of lawyers to mirror the European Courts of Justice. He thinks the ECJ will not have the remit to tell UK citizens what to do. He is instead calling for a new body to be set up, staffed by British lawyers, to advise on interpretation of EU law.
