In this episode, we’re taking our listeners to school as we study up on the undisputed center of knowledge on Hydaelyn – the nation of Sharlayan. On the surface, it seems like an enlightened utopia of learned citizens in the tradition of the Ancient Greeks. However, in a society that values information and education above all else, what becomes of the uneducated working class – and how might the government control the information its citizens receives? How did their strict moral values cause them to abandon their Eorzean colony of New Sharlayan, later turned into Idyllshire? And how exactly does one earn a Ph.D. in the academic study of badassery? Though there will not be a quiz at the end, we’re sure you’ll want to take plenty of notes on this one.
