The Soul Shack (Oct 2017) w/ DJ-J-ME live @ Lavelle
Some of you may have noticed that there hasn't been a "live @ dBar" mix in a REALLY long time! Well, that vibe is back now that I have a new residency at Lavelle every second Friday of the month. At Lavelle it's sort of a mix of how I used to play at dBar, as well as some more mainstream urban tempo vibes mixed in too. For this Soul Shack episode (recorded this past Friday) I chose to exclude the middle (non-Soul Shack) part of the night, as well as the more late night house portion (even though it was banging!) and instead do a Soul Shack edit that's constantly chill, the warm up first half of the night, and then the last 20 minutes of the night when I was winding down. When it gets to that second part, please ignore the weird warping sounds when I adjust the acapella (vocals) to get them back on beat, I somehow accidentally turned off the pitch lock! (also for any Portishead fans out there, near the end I slide in my recent "Roads" re-drum) Hope you enjoy (and if you're in Toronto, come hear it live every second Friday!)
