Mucho Soul Show Back2Back FM Sunday 03.01.16

Hot on the tail of their big succesful New Years Eve Soul On The South Bank party, The Mucho Soul team return to the studio with a spring in their step, fresh and ready for another year of Mucho Soulfulness! There's a couple of tracks in both hours from our cover star the late great Natalie Cole, who unfortunately passed away on December 31st, with Ket choosing her Verve released 2002 cut 'Tell Me All About it' and Al opting for one of her Capitol Classics with La Costa. Ket then continues his hour with nouveau Jazz from Monolog and The Bas Lexter Ensample and some seventies soul from Saundra Hewitt before a couple of the big NYE numbers from Chico Hamilton and Babete. He follows these with new music from Wolf for Frits Wentink and some Brasilian goodness from Till Brönner before rounding off the hour with Freedom B, DoopelHerz and the new Innervisions release for the Dele Sosimi Afro Beat Orchestra. Al's second hour is a look back over 2015 as he selects ten of his favourite Soul selections as featured throughout the year on the Mucho Soul Show. His run down includes music from Jaidene Veda, D’Angelo, Maysa and Sam Reed plus a cut from the revived Gold Of My Own project featuring Vanessa Freeman. Theres also a cut from Al's stand out Soul album from Tahirah Memory featuring Jarrod Lawson plus tracks from Brendan Reilly, Lianne La Havas and Jill Scott before ending the show with the heart breaking Stonemilker from Bjorks epic Vulnicura album for One Little Indian. We have three CD box set copies of Pure Deep House 4 (The Very Best of House & Garage) to give away this week. Send your name and address via email to muchosoul@sky.com and answer the following question: Pure Deep House 4 features the CeCe Rogers 1987 Seminal Classic 'Someday'. CeCe Rogers was born Kenneth Jesse Rogers III in Cleveland Ohio but was given the CeCe nickname/stage name whilst performing at the age of 11 years old and imitating Chubby Checker. Who was the world famous Soul Superstar who gave Kenneth Rogers his CeCe name? Three lucky winners are having the CD's sent in the post!! Please note competition now closed!
