OPENS THE SHOW - Formed in 1990, Sokoband is entering a new phase of it's life. Michael and bassist Houston Ross have continued to make music unlike most you have ever heard. Their original drummer Johnny Gilmore passed away in 2009 and the band brought in drummer Nir Z to fill the void. The three musicians have rerecorded the original Sokoband release In November Sunlight, giving it new life. With guests like saxophonist LeRoi Moore, Stickist Greg Howard, percussionist Darrell Rose, and guitarist Tim Reynolds and Dave Matthews on the record, you know Sokoband has the chops. We will talk with Michael about the years of playing, what is on the horizon and when new material will be available.
