Restore, Renew, Redeem Us
The beautiful words “Comfort, Comfort my people” begin the second part of the book of Isaiah. These words are addressed to people who feel like strangers in a strange land; like the world has been snatched away and replaced; like they don’t even know who they are anymore. Worse, they are pretty sure God no longer can hear their prayers or has any power. They are in exile and we share the same experiences. The world changes dramatically, cancer steals our strength and identity, grief overtakes us. In the midst of our exile, God says, “Comfort, Comfort my people…”
