"The Soul Shack" w/ DJ-J-ME

With a new mix on www.podomatic.com/soulshack each month , DJ-J-ME started "The Soul Shack" in November 2005 on Soulstream Networks as a way to share with the world his take on 'good' music...made with soul. From soulful & classic house to nu disco & chillwave to neo-soul & nu-jazz to rn'b to old school, funk and 'real' hip hop, it's all fair game on "The Soul Shack". Each month, depending on Jamie's mood you may hear any or all of the above music - sometimes a mixed bag of 'all things soulful', sometimes just a particular theme or genre...but always soulful! With Soul Shack parties having occurred in Toronto, New York, Miami & LA, the brand (and DJ-J-ME) continues to grow and gain new fans. Check this podcast for the latest Soul Shack mixes. (Archived Soul Shack mixes are available at www.mixcloud.com/soulshack) About DJ-J-ME: In demand, Toronto based dj who has played everything from 2,000 person Fortune 500 corporate events to Toronto rooftop hotspots like Kost & Lavelle to a decade of TIFF events in Yorkville for various celebrities, as well as gigs in NYC, LA, Chicago & Miami (where he enjoyed a monthly winter residency before Covid hit)...

The Soul Shack w/ DJ-J-ME (Nov 2015) "10 Yr Anniversary Live back to back w/ Mr. V (after 1am)"

10 YEARS!!! That's right, this podcast has been online for a decade!!! 120 episodes, with this one being #121. And we're starting off the second decade right, with a live recording from the 10 Year Anniversary party in Toronto w/ my boy Mr. V! I started off for the first hour playing some more chill vibes (which later got re-recorded as the full 4hr "A Decade of Soul Shack - Everything Else" mix, one of 17 exclusive mixes, totaling over 60 hrs or 2.5 days of DJ-J-ME mixes not available online, only available on the limited edition Soul Shack 8gb thumb drives, which there are still some left and available), then Toronto's own Joonya T set the tone perfectly with his proper house set, which was followed by me and Mr. V going back to back for the rest of the night! A very special thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us, especially those that drove in from out of town and even scheduled flights back to Toronto to make sure they could come out, I really appreciate it, and felt the love that night. The November mix is just part of the live recording, starting somewhere after 1am (I think you can hear Joonya T's set over on his site). Because it's both me and V playing back to back, there's no playlist this month, as I couldn't simply just export the playlist from my Serato, and to be honest, V dropped some tracks that I don't even know the names of, so just enjoy the ride even if you don't know the track names! (although I will tell you that I ended the night with the LNTG rework of Sade's "Shelter Me", quite possibly my favourite song period right now. I got into the habit of closing out my nights at dBar playing it and felt it was appropriate to close out the Soul Shack 10 Yr Anniversary party with it too...it's just so damn beautiful!!!) So this mix is only about 1 3/4 hours long, but like I mentioned above, for the true Soul Shack fans out there, I still have available for sale, some of the limited edition, exclusive mix collection 8gb thumb drives. This thumb drive has over 60 hours of mixes including the 2 part, 8 hour "Before the Soul Shack" (my favourite house records from before '05), the 2 part "A Decade of Soul Shack - House", 2 part "A Decade of Soul Shack - Lounge", the above mentioned "A Decade of Soul Shack - Everything Else", the 5 hour Soul Shack WMC party live at the Broken Shaker in Miami from back in March, live full night recordings from dBar, including my TIFF nights from 2014 & 2015, a couple of cocktail mixes (including a Motown one) and "So This is 40", a 40th b-day party I dj'd (for us old folks lol!) If you'd like to buy one of these thumbdrives, hit me up at jamiewichartz@yahoo.ca (there's still some Soul Shack t-shirts and baby tees available too) As always, feel free to join the Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=2343903312&ref=ts or Subscribe on iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=306968245 And I'm finally using Instagram, so follow me at @DJ_J_ME Thank you to all of my listeners who have kept motivating me to do this for over a decade. The podcast gets around 4,000 downloads a month from around the world and I'd love to hear from you, see how many years you've been listening, how you discovered the show, favourite episode, where in the world you are...shoot me an email at jamiewichartz@yahoo.ca.
