"The Soul Shack" w/ DJ-J-ME

With a new mix on www.podomatic.com/soulshack each month , DJ-J-ME started "The Soul Shack" in November 2005 on Soulstream Networks as a way to share with the world his take on 'good' music...made with soul. From soulful & classic house to nu disco & chillwave to neo-soul & nu-jazz to rn'b to old school, funk and 'real' hip hop, it's all fair game on "The Soul Shack". Each month, depending on Jamie's mood you may hear any or all of the above music - sometimes a mixed bag of 'all things soulful', sometimes just a particular theme or genre...but always soulful! With Soul Shack parties having occurred in Toronto, New York, Miami & LA, the brand (and DJ-J-ME) continues to grow and gain new fans. Check this podcast for the latest Soul Shack mixes. (Archived Soul Shack mixes are available at www.mixcloud.com/soulshack) About DJ-J-ME: In demand, Toronto based dj who has played everything from 2,000 person Fortune 500 corporate events to Toronto rooftop hotspots like Kost & Lavelle to a decade of TIFF events in Yorkville for various celebrities, as well as gigs in NYC, LA, Chicago & Miami (where he enjoyed a monthly winter residency before Covid hit)...

The Soul Shack w/ DJ-J-ME (Aug 2011) aka "Songs of great love & heartbreak"

****DUE TO BANDWIDTH ISSUES, CHECK THE CURRENT SOUL SHACK MIX @ **** Alright I went a completely different direction this month and made an old fashioned "mix tape", the kind you'd give to the girl you liked in school. So if you're lookin' for the usual, you might want to skip this month, but if you're open to a slow and beautiful journey through classic soul, 80's slow jams, acoustic tracks and lots of piano with some of the best voices across several genres (RIP Amy Winehouse), then this rare mix is for you. It's even like an old mixtape in the sense that it clocks in at around 90 minutes, not the usual 80 min CD length (sorry if you planned on burning this mix to CD). That being said, here's the playlist for the first Soul Shack Mixtape "songs of great love & heartbreak": 1. Somebody – Depeche Mode 2. Love Me Like a River Does – Melody Gardot 3. A Song For You – Donny Hathaway 4. Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill – Lauryn Hill 5. I've Got Dreams to Remember – Otis Redding 6. I Put A Spell On You – Nina Simone 7. Glory Box – Portishead 8. Disarm – Smashing Pumpkins 14. Teach Him - Melanie Fiona 15. Love Is A Losing Game – Amy Winehouse 16. By Your Side – Sade 17. Moments In Love – The Art of Noise 18. Know How - Kings Of Convenience 19. Sick Muse (Acoustic) – Metric 20. Rocket Love – Stevie Wonder 21. Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow – Amy Winehouse 22. Into The Mystic – Van Morrison 23.
