"The Soul Shack" w/ DJ-J-ME

With a new mix on www.podomatic.com/soulshack each month , DJ-J-ME started "The Soul Shack" in November 2005 on Soulstream Networks as a way to share with the world his take on 'good' music...made with soul. From soulful & classic house to nu disco & chillwave to neo-soul & nu-jazz to rn'b to old school, funk and 'real' hip hop, it's all fair game on "The Soul Shack". Each month, depending on Jamie's mood you may hear any or all of the above music - sometimes a mixed bag of 'all things soulful', sometimes just a particular theme or genre...but always soulful! With Soul Shack parties having occurred in Toronto, New York, Miami & LA, the brand (and DJ-J-ME) continues to grow and gain new fans. Check this podcast for the latest Soul Shack mixes. (Archived Soul Shack mixes are available at www.mixcloud.com/soulshack) About DJ-J-ME: In demand, Toronto based dj who has played everything from 2,000 person Fortune 500 corporate events to Toronto rooftop hotspots like Kost & Lavelle to a decade of TIFF events in Yorkville for various celebrities, as well as gigs in NYC, LA, Chicago & Miami (where he enjoyed a monthly winter residency before Covid hit)...

"The Soul Shack" (June 2011) aka "Back in the day when I was a teenager pt 2"

That's right...a year ago I took you down memory lane with "back in the day when I was a teenager pt 1" and finally over a year later I've made part 2 with all the old school (pre Biggie/Wu Tang etc.) gems that didn't fit on part 1 (for those of you that have only found the podcast in the past year and are classic hip hop fans, definitely scroll down to the June 2010 mix, it's still available) So many memories from the stuff on this mix, but a lot are probably the same as my ramblings last June and I'm sure when you check out the mix it'll bring back a bunch of your own memories... so dust off your British Knights, your Raiders Jacket, your demin overalls and cross colours t-shirts throw some d batteries in your ghetto blaster and enjoy! Just an FYI, as a summer treat (and to make up for not posting this until July) I'm posting this and the July mix at proper 192kbps quality so you can enjoy this timeless mix to the fullest.
