Gerson Borrero on Puerto Rico Deaths, Roseanne, Starbucks + More

Gerson Borrero, political commentator for NY1 and NY1 Noticias, and political editor and host of Estudio DC, talks about a new Harvard study found more than 4,600 people died as a result of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, far exceeding the official government estimate of 64, plus comments on Starbucks, Roseanne's racism and the recent death of longtime Latino political analyst Angelo Falcón.

@GersonBorrero: "Our task becomes harder...we have to be more conscious of things we've picked up in life that are sometimes borderline racist or sexist without realizing...and be conscious of not hurting other people gratuitously."

On the new Harvard study that found more than 4,600 people died as a result of Hurricane Maria on Puerto Rico, @GersonBorrero says for him, it's personal. "These are people, human beings that they didn't care for because we're second-class citizens..."

@GersonBorrero points out most of the deaths in Puerto Rico happened after the storm, + could have been prevented if help had arrived faster, in his opinion. "You cannot blame this on Mother Nature...this is neglect...criminal."

On Angelo Falcón, @GersonBorrero says he was committed to the betterment of all, but in particular Latinos... "he always found that Puerto Ricans and Latinos needed more attention than others because...in his words 'we were screwed every time we turned around.'"

@GersonBorrero on the @NYCMayor's comments on how he wouldn't "shed a tear" if the New York Post goes away: "I condemn what Bill de Blasio said, how dare he? Whether we like it or not, it is an institution."
