'This is Not the Way Responsible Superpowers Act'

Susan Glasser, staff writer at The New Yorker who writes the weekly online column, "Letter from Trump's Washington," talks about the latest political news from Washington. On the president's Tweets this morning threatening Iran, Glasser says "this is not the way responsible superpowers act."

The issue is not that Donald Trump is talking to our adversaries... it's that Donald Trump didn't go to the summit "prepared to defend American interests," says @sbg1.

@sbg1 says on Russia, and almost Russia alone, President Trump continues to do things that are politically fraught + dangerous for him. And she says she's always wondered about this...what benefit does President Trump see that we're missing?

— Brian Lehrer Show (@BrianLehrer) July 23, 2018

@sbg1 reminds us that even Trump's director of national intelligence, Dan Coats, doesn't know what was discussed by Trump + Putin in their private meeting in Helsinki.

@sbg1 wrote an article about the "death of American foreign policy;" cites the President's ALL CAPS tweets this morning about Iran as an example. "This is not the way responsible superpowers act."
