7: Cloverfield Too

10 Cloverfield Lane.

Running Time: 43 minutes 31 seconds

J.J. Abrams productions are known for their secrecy. But earlier this year, Abrams took the element of surprise to another level with announcement of a sequel to Cloverfield mere months before the film's release. In a world of instant internet journalism, Dan Trachtenberg's 10 Cloverfield Lane came virtually out of nowhere to surprise everyone.

The film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Goodman as two people living in an underground fallout shelter after a cataclysmic event of unknown cause. Abrams produced the film along with fellow Star Trek Beyond producer Lindsey Weber.

In this episode of Stage Nine, Mike and John take a look at the latest Bad Robot movie. We discuss the unique setup, how it differs from the original Cloverfield, and what makes it a classic Bad Robot production. In News, we preview what to expect from the Star Trek panel at next week's San Diego Comic Con.
