Enoch Raavi is a St. Louis-born arts enthusiast, professional DJ, self-published recording artist (Enoch Raavi and the Indigenous Groove) and bassist. Enoch studied radio production in the mid 1990’s and became an announcer on the Webster University-based radio station KSLH Jazz 91.5 in St. Louis. As early as 2003, Enoch has traversed throughout several iterations of  ’podcasts’. Long before the advent of Apple’s iPod, he began webcasting with a station on Live 365, which was inevitably followed by syndicated episodes on Podomatic. In order, the original shows were entitled… “Eklektika”,”Soul Safari”, “Knocturnal Sunshine”, and the last of which was “Global Warmth”, which had a corresponding listening party event featuring live musical acts, African drumming and deejaying, and was housed at several brick & mortar locations. You can find a few of these archived here, and in response to popular demand, do expect new material and shows in the Spring of 2022. Exact dates will be published soon, so for now please enjoy these older episodes, which never get old, and stay tuned for the future installments!

Knocturnal Sunshine: Soularium

The History... Ever since there was electricity in the form of airwaves, the world has sought to communicate and project thoughts, feelings, and vibrations, with the hope of a worthy recipient on the opposite end to absorb the message. Conventional radio, originally broadcasted via towers and transmitters, became a current which could be felt and interpreted with wire antennae. This medium, often commercially driven, lucrative, and at times corrupt in practice saw its ascent, peak, and the beginning of its decline all during the 20th century. Then… the current went underground. The desire and need to be free of a federally controlled, and caste system-like monopoly gave birth to an assortment of alternative means for one to be heard. The advent of coaxial cable, fiber optics, and data flowing through phone lines revolutionized the way information, and more importantly, music… was sent and received. The Soul made a breakthrough. The Future… Satellite, cable and now Internet radio, while different in their applications, yet similar in intent, have slain the all-encompassing ogre and put the power back into the hands of the people it was meant to serve. YOU! KNOC Radio is the natural progression and brainchild of the people. KNOC (Keep Nourishing Our Communities) has emerged from the rubble to provide a voice for the unheard. Encouragement of individual expression and attentiveness to one’s Soul is the model for the next millennium through quality programs on and offline, artistic endeavors and audio on demand. A nu standard in radio has arrived. My first internet based radio show was called "Eklektika", co-hosted with comedian/filmmaker Kenny Kinds, and afterwards there was "Knocturnal Sunshine", a ray of light in the night, featuring Soul, Acid Jazz, Lounge and more. I buried the show after the passing of a dear friend at the hands of the police, and it is now reborn, infused with healing energy to make the world a better place from my stance of artivism. Indulge in this mix as it blurs genres, color lines, and periods in time....some new, some olde, an exploration at its best. No track list will be put up, if you like a song, Shazzam it, then buy it. That is all...enjoy. (Spoiler alert: Jose James, Fertile Ground, Roni Size, Marc Cary, and a couple of songs regarding the act of kissing all appear here...)
