episode 116: Stage 10 | Salamanca – Fermoselle | Vuelta a España 2018

The Vuelta a España resumed on Tuesday after a rest day in Salamanca with a stage for the sprinters. Richard Moore, Daniel Friebe and Fran Reyes discuss the day’s action, with the main drama coming in the last 15km, when a spate of punctures seemed to affect most of the overall contenders, including red jersey wearer Simon Yates.

Yates kept the overall lead, but his team, Mitchelton-Scott, seems to be taking a very different approach to the Vuelta than to the Giro d’Italia, which Yates led for so long before cracking in the final few days. We hear from a rider who rode both races for the Australian team, Jack Haig, who explains the more cautious strategy in this Vuelta.
