Do Political Moderates Stand a Chance?

With news that former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz is planning to run for president as a — quote — “centrist independent,” and while former New York City mayor (and local billionaire) Michael Bloomberg has said he will not run as an independent, he hasn’t ruled out running as an independent-minded Democrat. Listeners call in to share what they think of political moderates.

I'm a political moderate but leaning to the progressive side now. Income equality is an important issue for me and they are way on the wrong side of this issue. Also, who would be talking about Howard Schultz if he wasn't a billionaire? He's got nothing else going for him.

As an independent moderate I support Bloomberg but NOT Schultz. Schultz as an independent will virtually guarantee a win for the GOP (Trump). Bloomberg understands this which is why he won't run as an independent. And a left Demo. candidate alienate moderates (like me)

@BrianLehrer please no more billionaire white men for president. We need to stop believing that because people are super rich (often unearned through generational wealth), they somehow know how to govern a country.
