Tea & Converse: Keiya

Lately I've been sifting through the Tea & Converse archives and there are a great deal of unreleased episodes that I want to make sure see the light of day. Here's one of them. A little more than two years ago -- and for her, a little more than two hair styles ago -- Keiya came up to Harlem on a cold day in November and met me at what was then called Harlem Trading Co. Her Work EP was in circulation, Saint Heron was paying attention and she was just about to start doing more live shows. We talked about all of those things but we also delve into her origin story and the role that jazz and the saxophone play in that. We got to hear about her transition into beat making and music production. She talks us through her process and some of the work in her catalog among other things. Ladies and gentlemen Forever Ya Girl...
