Venari Hallerman (Rogue Trader) – John Kayne Lomelin (Arch Militant) – Jesse Jarnan Morgun (Missionary) – Besse Emmaus Kore (Void Master) - Kevin GM – Neil The team spreads out and determines the artifact is not on the bridge. Venari tries digging into the ships computer looking for captains logs, star charts, etc. He is able to find some unencrypted files showing that Harstack became increasingly unstable after interacting with the artifact. He stated he needed to satisfy the calling. Video shows Harstack frequently going in and out of the ready room. Kayne stays on overwatch as the Jarnan, Emmaus and Venari head into the ready room. It’s a well appointed room and the artifact sits on the table in front of what would be Harstack’s chair. Venari is drawn to the artifact and walks forward gently caressing it. He feels a presence that is accepting of the Rogue Traders way of life of individuality and freedom. Emmaus believes that the artifact is a primitive Tau device that can manipulate the warp. Jarnan, who has been keeping a close eye on Venari, asks to see the artifact. Venari hesitates but eventually passes it over to him. Jarnan doesn’t feel anything associated with the artifact. They toss the room and don’t find anything else of note. Kayne contacts the shuttle and they give coordinates for the closest extraction point. While they are moving through the ship they hear creatures moving around and as the crew draws near the creatures move away. Once they are on the shuttle Kayne and Emmaus want to glass the site but Venari argues against such a rash decision. There is the potential for untold wealth if they are bold enough to take it. Once they are on the Heretics Bane they move the artifact to the cargo bay and lock it down. They spend a few fruitless hours of endless debating and then Venari calls it and tells everyone to sleep on it. Kayne’s guys are put on security and Jarnan sends some of his acolytes down as well to keep watch. The next morning it’s decided to have both the tech priests and Jarnan’s acolytes study the artifact and see what information can be gleaned from it. The tech priests inform the captain that the device should be placed in a secondary Gellar containment field before entering the warp.
