episode 4: Pedal Press: Liam Friary

In this episode I get talking with Liam Friary, the owner of Pedal Press in New Zealand. Publishing two magazines, Cycling Journal and NZ Mountain Biker, Liams story is one of opportunity and determination. Explaining his story from obese to athlete, Liam shares what it takes to be creative and publish every month. A unique part of Liam’s story is how he became the owner of these two national magazines. Listen to the latest podcast to hear how Pedal Press was born and how he took on two poor performing magazines and breathed new life into them. He also shares advice on creating your own magazine and if you’re a content producer, either illustrator, writer or photographer, hear his advice on the best ways to get your work published and start a relationship with a publisher. What is Pedaling Podcast? Im John, I created Pedaling Podcast as a way to document the cycling stories as I cycle all the way from Auckland, New Zealand to London, United Kingdom. I became interested in the industry almost recently, when I spent a brief period working in Auckland’s oldest bike shop called T Whites. I mulled over this idea of collecting the stories, politics, business and social side of the cycling industry. I run everything either through the website, http://www.pedalingpodcast.com or via my Instagram https://www.instagram.com/pedalingpodcast If you have any feedback on my journey home, the show itself or recommend anyone I should speak to on the journey, follow the above links and get in touch.
